FootballSenegal Star Dreams of Winning the Ballon d’Or and the World Cup After AFCON Success
- Sadio Mané has dreams of winning some of the top awards in world football after his Africa Cup of Nations success with Senegal
- The Liverpool star has set sights on winning the Ballon D'or and the FIFA World Cup while he is still playing
- Mané is on a rich vein of form since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations as Liverpool's pursuit for the Premier League title continues
Liverpool star and Senegalese football icon, Sadio Mané has revealed his ambitions of becoming the second African player to win the Ballon D'or.
The 29-year-old also wants to lead his country Senegal to World Cup success, hence becoming the first African country to achieve that feat.
In a feature on France Football, the Liverpool star spilled it out as he stated his goals while he still plays for Liverpool and Senegal.
"I have so much hunger that I remain on the lookout for what is good and beautiful to devour. And the Ballon d'Or is necessarily part of it. But I don't want to talk too much about it now," he said as quoted by 13 Football.
“The World Cup is my new dream. But before that, we will have to qualify, but I want to believe in somewhat crazy projects and the one that consists of winning the World Cup with Senegal is one of them. If we succeed, of course, I will get closer to all the players who apply for the Ballon d'Or every year. If I win the World Cup, I think it will become a goal, yes," added Mané.
Sadio Mané did not make the cut for the Ballon D'or award last year after a difficult campaign with the Reds.
However, this season, Mané has already won the Africa Cup of Nations and the Caraboa Cup and Liverpool are in contention for the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
