Ghana’s Black Princesses Ready To Finish World Cup Qualifiers in Style Against Ethiopia

The female U20 team of Ghana, the Black Princesses are hoping to finish off their World Cup qualifiers in grand style by beating Ethiopia.

The team led by Coach Ben Fokuo left Accra on Friday to Addis Ababa for the final round of qualifier against East Africans.

In photos posted on Twitter, sighted by Sports Brief, the team were spotted leaving the Kotoko International Airport for the clash with Ethiopia.

The Black Princesses will pay their Ethiopian counterparts in the first leg on Sunday, March 13, 2022 before facing the same opponents in a fortnight time in Ghana.

“We can win this game and qualify to the World Cup in Costa Rica," said coach Ben Fokuo before their departure.

How the Black Princesses reached the final round

The Black Princesses started the qualifiers without playing in the first round following the withdrawal of Mauritania.

The team played Zambia in the second round, winning 1-0 on aggregate, courtesy an Evelyn Badu winner.

It was a much easier third round for the U20 team, crushing Uganda 7-1 on aggregate. The team won 5-0 in Ghana and 2-1 in Kampala.

Black Princesses beat Zambia to advance in qualifiers

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghana's female U20 team, the Black Princesses are through to the next round of qualifiers for the World Cup after beating Zambia 1-0 in Cape Coast.

Captain Evelyn Badu netted the winner with a first half strike as the Black Queens get close to another World Cup appearance.

In photos posted on Twitter, sighted by YEN.com.gh, the team is seen celebrating the victory.
