Super Eagles Coach Reckons Nigeria Deserve World Cup Spot More Than Ghana
FootballOrlando Pirates' Nigerian Defender Olisa Ndah Reportedly Attracting Unnamed Swedish Club's Attention
- Orlando Pirates and Nigeria defender Olisa Ndah, a revelation in the DStv Premiership this season, is said to be on the radar of an unnamed Swedish club
- Ndah was away on international duty, forming part of the wider Super Eagles squad at the 2021 African Cup of Nations, too
- He did not make an appearance in the tournament, which saw his team get knocked by Tunisia 1-0 in a last 16 fixture
It has been a good year as an Orlando Pirates player for Olisa Ndah and the Nigerian defender has already attracted interest in Sweden, with a source close to the player stating that the 24-year-old’s dreams of playing in Europe may come true.
He might have missed a penalty last night in a shootout against Marumo Gallants, but he will forget that disappointment quickly with the latest development.
Ndah climbed aboard the Pirates ship in August last year after he helped Akwa United win the Nigerian Premiership title.
The tall defender's impressive performance resulted in him getting a much-deserved call-up by the Super Eagles for their African Cup of Nations campaign in Cameroon.
Ndah is said to be excited about the news but knows that he has a contract with Pirates and can only leave the club if the team wishes to sell him.
Ndah was reportedly excited about the developments. However, the next and final step is with Pirates, which has the last say on whether he can leave or not because of the contract he signed with them.
A source close to Ndah told the Citizen's Phakaaathi:
“I think this was expected because apparently before he joined Pirates there was a team overseas that wanted to sign him, but they took their time making an official bid while he was still in Nigeria.
"So, Pirates acted quickly on him, but now there is already a club in Sweden that is very serious about signing him. This is a big deal for him because that is his biggest dream – he wants to go play on a bigger stage at some point. But, still, he remains grounded and knows that he is Pirates player."
