FIFA has appointed North African referees to officiate the World Cup qualifiers between Ghana and Nigeria in Cape Coast and Abuja later this month.
According to the World's football governing body, Moroccan referee Jiyed Redouane will handle the first leg fixture when the Black Stars host the Super Eagles on Friday, March 25, 2022, at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The return leg fixture which is scheduled for the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja four days later will be officiated by Tunisia's Sadok Selmi.
The two North African have been a CAF and FIFA referee for over ten years.
Who is Jiyed Redouane
42-year-old Redouane began his officiating career in 2009. He led his first international match on 9 June 2012 and also officiated at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
Redouane has officiated Black Stars matches in the past, with the latest one being Ghana's 3-1 triumph over Ethiopia in a World Cup qualifying game in September last year at the same venue.
The Moroccan referee officiated at the the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations where he took charge of eight games, including the games between Equatorial Guinea and Cote d’Ivoire in the group stages and Burkina Faso vs. Gabon in the round of 16.
He also handled the 3rd place play-off game Burkina Faso and Cameroon at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde.

FootballSports Brief earlier reported that Ghana and Ajax midfield kingpin Kudus Mohammed has declared himself 'fit and ready' following a long injury lay-off.
The 21-year-old midfielder suffered an injury while on national assignment for Ghana in November 2021 and was named in the 28-man squad for the 2021 AFCON but his late recovery coincided with Ghana's early exit.
Since his return to fitness, Ajax gaffer Erik Ten Hag has slowly integrated the Ghanaian back to first-team action.
