Meanwhile, Kelechi Iheanacho’s goal against the Pharaohs of Egypt has been ranked as one of the best goals of the tournament by football followers.
According to Goal, just 100 goals were scored in 52 games at the finals, an average of 1.92 goals per game, significantly lower than every year’s mean since 2004.
Iheanacho’s strike was however included in the top five goals of the tournament despite Nigeria’s early exit from the competition hosted by Cameroon.
After controlling the ball from a headed Joe Aribo pass, the Leicester City striker struck the ball into the top right corner of Mohamed El Shenawy’s goal with minimal backlift to hand Nigeria a 1-0 win.
Meanwhile, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi also made the list of top five goals at the just concluded AFCON as a free-kick against Malawi was considered a joy to watch.
