FootballManchester United Star Blasted After Being Nutmegged by David de Gea Leading to Man City’s Second Goal
- Harry Maguire was far from impressive over the weekend as Manchester City walloped Manchester United 4-1
- United fans are not happy with the defender, with many lashing out at him on social media for his performance against their rivals
- A fan stated that the player makes mistakes and that sometimes it seems like ‘banter defending’, as he expects him to do better
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has continued to receive heavy criticism following his side’s loss to rivals Manchester City in the Premier League, Daily Mail reports.
Angry fans have singled out the player for an attack as he was nutmegged by his own goalkeeper De Gea and made a dummy clearance which led to City’s second goal.
Awful performance by United defenders allowed Kevin De Bruyne to restore his side’s lead as Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka both flail about in the box like fish out of water.
Goalkeeper De Gea punched away Phil Foden’s effort and the ball found its way through the legs of Maguire before he stretched to attempt to block the follow-up effort from Bernardo Silva.
But his return didn't go to plan as football fans took to social media in disbelief that the defender managed to make such an error in the build-up to City's second goal.
One said:
“It's like Maguire is a rival secret agent. Every game he's making a mistake or doing banter defending.”
A second added:
”Maguire will do a post-match interview saying 'WE should be doing better’ when he’s doing s**t like this.”
Another stated:
“This thing is still upsetting me.”
