Ghana international Abdul Baba Rahman is a doubt for the upcoming World Cup playoffs after he sustained a thigh injury during a Championship match.

The 27-year-old has been on the sidelines since he got injured on February 19 this year when his side Reading recorded a 3-2 win over Preston North End.

Rahman's return is not clear yet but Ghana is confident that the left-full back will not be on the sidelines for a long period.

The Chelsea loanee is however expected to recover in time to play a big role in the World Cup playoff as the Black Stars host their perennial rivals Nigeria on March 25 in Cape Coast before heading to Abuja four days later for the return fixture.

The winner of the tie will represent the continent at the World football showpiece which is scheduled to take place from November 21 to December 18, 2022, in Qatar.

Rahman has played 41 games for the Black Stars and scored one goal in the process.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Communications Director for the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum has revealed Black Stars gaffer Otto Addo is in touch with Mohammed Salisu ahead of the all-important clash with Nigeria.

Ahead of the game, many players have been mooted to be named in the final squad for the cliffhanger.

Henry Asante, the official spokesperson of the football federation, revealed Otto Addo wants to assemble the best set of players for the national assignment which includes Salisu.
