Roman Abramovich's chances of returning to his home country of Russia might be in jeopardy after the billionaire called the invasion of Ukraine a war.

Russia had mounted over a week-long military invasion of Ukraine with what President Vladimir Putin describes as Russia denazifying the country.

According to a report via Daily Mail, Russia’s parliament introduced new laws against the spreading of fake news about the activities in Ukraine which is punishable by jail terms of up to 15 years.

This law means Roman Abramovich's statement will now be considered fake news which means the Chelsea owner stands a strong chance of being arrested once in Russia.

Roman Abramovich recently put Chelsea up for sale and has set a £3billion asking price for anyone interested in buying the Stamford Bridge club.

Up to 10 parties interested in buying Chelsea

Meanwhile, Roman Abramovich's decision to sell Chelsea football has caused an uproar amongst the richest investors around the globe.

According to Sky Sports, up to 10 parties are now considering making bids for the Blues, with investment bankers working on the sale for the club worth £3billion.

Amongst those listed with an interest to buy the London club include Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss, MMA fighter Conor McGregor, Turkish businessman, Muhsin Bayrak, and Britain's richest man, Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
