Ghanaian winger Osman Bukari propelled Nantes to their third win in four French Ligue 1 matches on Sunday afternoon.
Goals from Randal Kolo Muani and Willem Geubbels were enough for Nantes to secure the maximum three points at stake.
Bukari, who came in as a second-half substitute for French midfielder Roli Perreira de Sa, created the all-important goal to cushion the results in additional time.
He took to Twitter to cheer on his side as they continue their home invincibility run.
How did Nantes beat Montpellier
Nantes went into the game in high spirits having reached the finals of the Coupe de France for the first time in 22 years.
However, it was the away side that probed for the game's opener but was undone by poor decision upfront despite getting into dangerous positions.
After a tepid first half, Nantes gaffer Antoine Kombouaré reshuffled his pack with the introduction of Ghanaian winger Osman Bukari to inject some bite upfront.
His tweak in personnel yielded positive dividends as Nantes drew first blood in the 69th minute through Kolo Muani.
Just when it appeared the game would end with a solitary goal, Bukari took matters into his own hands to set up Geubbels in stoppage time.
What was Bukari's performance in the game?
The 23-year-old winger lasted 28 minutes in the encounter. He also managed an assist to cap off a decent outing for the Canaries.
His assist against Montpellier was his second in the last three games for Nantes.
Bukari has clocked a total of 723 minutes in all competitions for the 2000 French Cup winners.

Afena-Gyan cameos in narrow win for AS Roma
Elsewhere in Italy, Ghanaian teenager Felix Afena-Gyan made a cameo appearance for AS Roma in their hard-fought victory over Atalanta at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday.
A Tammy Abraham strike was enough to hand Jose Mourinho's side their second consecutive win in Serie A.
Afena-Gyan started the game from the bench and he was introduced late in the game after he replaced Rick Karsdorp in the 83rd minute.
