Kai Havertz has singled out Reece James for praise following Chelsea's 4-0 thrilling win over relegation candidates, Burnley.
After a prolonged spell on the sidelines, James made a return to action as a substitute in Chelsea's Carabao Cup final defeat to Liverpool last weekend and FA Cup clash against Luton in midweek.
Thomas Tuchel went on to hand the Englishman his first start since his return from injury against Burnley on Saturday, March 5.
Reece James makes big contribution in Burnley win
The full-back justified his inclusion by making a big contribution to his side’s victory.
After a goalless draw in the first half, James scored the Blues' opener with a low strike into the corner after the break, before Havertz headed home a cross from Christian Pulisic for Chelsea's second.
It was 3-0 shortly after as James set up Havertz , with Pulisic putting the game to bed in the 69th minute.
Havertz praises James
After the match, Havertz was full of praise for James, hailing the full-back as a "special player."
"He’s a special player for us, a very important player for us. He’s a full-back, but he also scores. He’s a great character and a very good player," BBC Sport quoted the German saying.
"We’re very pleased. The result is very good for us," he added.
Meanwhile, the Blues remain third on the standings with 53 points, 10 behind second-placed Liverpool who have played an extra match.
