FootballMikel Arteta Pleased With Resurgence of Ghanaian Midfield Enforcer
- Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his delight over the resurgence of Black Stars midfielder Thomas Partey
- Arteta reckons 'something has clicked' again for the former Atletico Madrid midfield enforcer ahead of his side's game against Watford
- Partey has hit top form in the past few weeks for the Gunners and it comes as no surprise the Ghanaian player has been nominated for the player of the month award in February
Ghana international Thomas Partey made a brutal assessment of his performance since joining Arsenal and ever since then, the deputy Black Stars skipper has never looked back.
Partey rated his total output four [out of 10] in an interview with the club's media team but since returning from a below-par AFCON tournament, the former Atletico Madrid man has found his mojo.
Thomas has been bossing the midfield with relative ease bringing balance to the team, giving the license to the vibrant attackers hurt their opponents in a devastating fashion.
Sharing his opinion on what might have unleashed the beast in Thomas Partey, Arteta ascribed it to the Ghanaian's honest assessment and most importantly staying fit.
"I think when you are honest with yourself it’s a great starting point and when you assess yourself in the way that Thomas did publicly, it’s a really rare thing to do," Mikel Arteta said in a pre-match press conference.
"He did it because he believed that was the case, that he wants to give much more to the team and to the club and probably that something has clicked again, probably the fact that he’s been injury-free, it’s a massive thing in there, but as well he’s probably more fit because he’s doing things better." He ended.
Partey's Arsenal will play as guests to relegation-threatened Watford at the Vicarage Road on Sunday, March 6.
