AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho has been angered by Felix-Afena-Gyan after the Ghanaian youngster reportedly went nightclubbing on Saturday in Italy.
A report by Football Italia says Mourinho was so upset by the 19-year-old antics that he decided to drop him from AS Roma's first team.
For his punishment, Mourinho has demoted Afena-Gyan to the Primavera team and he will now be training with Roma's junior team for the next few weeks.
Afena-Gyan was ruled out of Sunday’s Serie A match against Spezia due to a minor injury and returned to the team's boarding school Trigoria.
But he was later spotted at a night club on Saturday with two of his Primavera teammates, Benjamin Tahirovic and Jan Oliveras, infuriating Mouirnho and the technical staff of AS Roma.
Afena-Gyan makes AS Roma debut under Mourinho
Afena-Gyan made his senior debut under the Portuguese gaffer this season, scoring two goals on his third Serie A appearance on November 21.
He has gone ahead to play 12 games in Italy's top flight, becoming the first player born in 2003 to score in the Serie A.
Felix Afena-Gyan moved to Italy in January 2021, and after just 9 months, earned his first professional contract.
Afena-Gyan Signs Mega Deal With Puma
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghanaian youngster Felix Afena-Gyan has signed a multi-year deal with sportswear giant PUMA.
Afena-Gyan, who plays for AS Roma in the Italian Serie A, will work closely with the sportswear company in engaging and inspiring the youth to take the game to the next level.
