Mfundo ‘Obrigado’ Vilakazi set the Philly’s Games alight and many expected him to do the same at the Amakhosi after signing for Kaizer Chiefs.
The talented teen showed real promise as well as he scored on debut in the DStv Diski Challenge, but he’s suddenly been dropped from the team.
Soccer Laduma reported that Vilakazi had actually been banished from the team. It was only last week, though, that Soccer Laduma reported that the player was impressing at Naturena.
“He is the real deal hey. Just seeing his football brain is on another level. He works extremely hard and is a normal kid. He hasn’t gotten carried away by the hype surrounding him. He works quite hard and looks like he has a bright future ahead of him,” the publication reported.
According to the publication, Vilakazi has been sent to train with the club’s u/17 side and he even featured to the side over the weekend.
The South African reported that no reason was given for the player’s sudden demotion. It is believed that the DStv Diski Challenge side coach, Vela Khumalo, didn’t think that the player was ready to step up on a bigger stage.
The teenager became one of the most talked-about young players in the country, thanks to his performances at the Philly’s Games with Doornkop Students.
Numerous teams were lining up deals to sign the sensational youngster but it was the Amakhosi who won the race for his signature.
