Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel snapped back at a reporter in a rare show of raw emotions after being quizzed once again about the situation in Ukraine and club owner Roman Abramovic.
Tuchel was taking questions ahead of his side’s FA Cup clash against Luton town on Wednesday, March 1, but the discussion took a turn towards Ukraine more than once.
As reported by Daily Mail, a visibly annoyed Tuchel demanded the reporters to shun from asking him questions on the ongoing war as “he is not a politician”.
During the press conference, media tried to probe the gaffer on Chelsea’s Russian billionaire Abramovic, who recently disclosed plans to hand Chelsea over to the club's trustees.
When asked about the Chelsea owner, Tuchel hit back, saying:
“Listen, listen, listen you have to stop, I'm not a politician,”
“You have to stop, honestly, I can only repeat it and I feel bad to repeat it because I've never experienced war.
“So even to talk about it I feel bad because I'm very privileged – I sit here in peace. I do the best I can but you have to stop asking me these questions because I have no answers for you.”
A heated press conference
Earlier during the press conference, the German admitted that the ongoing invasion of Ukraine by Russia had an impact on him.
He however also added that he and the Chelsea players were doing their best to remain focused on the team’s upcoming matches.
“Everyone in Europe has noise in their head that nobody likes. Still you try to come to work and try to do the best in your job as possible,” Tuchel added.
