However, in a sudden turn of events, the Russian oligarch has offered to broker a peace deal between the two nations.

Metro UK reports the 55-year-old involvement in the peace deal came after Ukraine, via his contacts in the country reached out to him.

The development has since been confirmed by Roman's spokesperson who revealed the Chelsea owner "has been trying to help."

"I can confirm that Roman Abramovich was contacted by the Ukrainian side for support in achieving a peaceful resolution, and that he has been trying to help ever since," Abramovich’s spokesperson told the PA news agency.
"Considering what is at stake, we would ask for your understanding as to why we have not commented on neither the situation as such nor his involvement," he added.

Liverpool stun Chelsea in Carabao Cup final

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Liverpool stunned Chelsea in post-match penalties on Sunday, February 27, to win the 2021/22 Carabao Cup.

The match had to be settled via the shootouts after it finished goalless during regulation time.

Both teams had glorious chances to put the game to bed much earlier but squandered tons of opportunities.

Kepa Arrizabalag was Chelsea's villain as he missed a decisive spot-kick to deny his side an opportunity to lift the trophy at Wembley Stadium.
