Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Khama Billiat, is one step closer to a milestone achievement in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
The Zimbabwean star scored his 96th goal in the PSL during the Amakhosi’s 1-0 win Baroka FC.
Chiefs left it late to secure victory, as Billiat scored in the 94th minute to guide his side to their first win of the year, IOL reported.
The goal also leaves the Chiefs’ midfielder just short of the 100 goal mark in the PSL. Billiat scored 47 goals while at Mamelodi Sundowns and 23 goals for Ajax Cape Town.
At Kaizer Chiefs he has netted an impressive 26 times, The South African reported.
He is also now the sixth-highest goalscorer in the history of the Premier Soccer League. The five men ahead of him have all reached the 100-goal mark.
Former Kaizer Chiefs player Siyabonga Nomvethe is currently the PSL’s highest goalscorer, having scored 123 goals in the league.
Mamelodi Sundowns stalwart, Daniel 'Mambush' Mudau, is next on the list with 110 goals. Mabuthi Khanyeza is currently third but has also scored 100 goals during his time in the PSL.
Tico-Tico Bucuane is next on the list with 104 goals and he is followed by Collins Mbesuma, who has 103 goals.
Only Mbesuma is still actively playing, but currently competes in the GladAfrica Championship.
At only 31-years-old, Billiat is still in a prime position to break the record and become South Africa’s leading marksman.
