- UEFA appears set to cancel the Europa League clash between RB Leipzig and Spartak Moscow with the German club promoted to the Quarter-finals
- The two sides were due to meet in Germany for the first leg and then in Russia the week after before the ban on their home games was in place
- Europe's football governing body had already said Russian and Ukrainian teams would have to play at neutral venues in club competitions but could be about to go further
UEFA is set to kick-out Russian Club, Spartak Moscow from the Europa League Round-of-16 following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Spartak is the only Russian side left in any of UEFA's club competitions this season after Zenit St Petersburg were knocked out of the Europa League by Real Betis.
According to a report via Sports Bible, the Russian Club will be excluded from the competition going forward and won't be replaced by UEFA.
Spartak Moscow were due to square up against the German club, RB Leipzig in the round-of-16 with the two sides scheduled to meet in Germany for the first leg with the reverse fixture a week later.
Top European associations including Poland have said they won’t be honouring games against the Russian national team in the World Cup playoffs either.
UEFA to organize an emergency Executive Committee meeting
Meanwhile, UEFA has scheduled an emergency Executive Committee meeting for its members on Tuesday, March 1st to tackle growing concerns arising from the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
According to Sky Sports, the Executive Committee’s emergency meeting was called due to concerns about more European associations announcing they will not play Russia in the World Cup playoffs.
The meeting will also serve as an avenue for UEFA's attempt to extricate itself from its sponsorship deal with Russian state-owned energy company Gazprom

Russia launched a full-scale war on the neighbouring country as airstrikes continue to rain, while troops continue to attack on the ground.
President Vladimir Putin has been condemned for the action and several countries are beginning to impose sanctions against the country.
