Legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has signed a new deal with Italian side Parma which will see him remain there until 2024.
Currently 44, Buffon will play professionally until 46, with many further tipping him to continue playing for some years more.
The former Juventus of Italy goalkeeper began his senior career at Parma and he returned for a second spell last summer after twenty years.
He remains their first-choice goalkeeper and has made 23 appearances for the club this season as they have now decided to reward him with a new deal.
Parma president Kyle Krause announced Buffon's renewal at a press conference on Monday, telling reporters via GOAL:
"I have great news, Gigi has renewed his contract until 2024. He is a great player, a pride for us: Gigi has a great passion for Parma, we are very happy for his support and his commitment."
Buffon made his debut for Parma at the age of 17 in 1995, and became the world's most expensive goalkeeper when Juventus signed him for £23 million ($31m) six years later.
Liverpool interested in Lautaro Martinez
Meanwhile, Liverpool have identified Lautaro Martinez as their next major transfer target and has told Inter Milan to name a price for the Argentine striker.
The 24-year-old has scored 11 goals already for the Italian Champions this season and was instrumental in the Milan side winning their first scudetto title in ten years last season.
