Thiago Alcantara can be seen in tears after the Liverpool midfielder sat out the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea on Sunday, February 27.
The Spanish midfielder had been named in the starting line-up for the crucial final against the Blues but picked up a late injury during the warm-up.
According to Daily Mail, Naby Keita replaced Alcantara on Red’s first eleven while young midfielder, Harvey Elliot took a spot on the bench for Liverpool.
Alcantara was pictured weeping profusely while the final was on with teammate and goalkeeper Alisson consoling the 30-year-old midfielder.
Liverpool were however victorious as they won via penalties against Chelsea, with Kepa Arrizabalaga missing the Blues’ 11th spot-kick to ensure the Reds won their first trophy of the season.
Thiago Alcantara injuries a worry for Liverpool
Meanwhile, Liverpool Football Club has provided an injury update on midfielder Thiago Alcantara after the Spaniard missed the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea.
According to a report via Anfield Watch, the Reds revealed the 30-year-old has been ruled out after sustaining a knock during the warm-up and later confirmed it was a hamstring injury.
Thiago has started just 10 Premier League matches this season as he has struggled to stay fit due to calf and hip injuries.
Alcantara has been a major winner throughout his career having won several titles with Barcelona and Bayern Munich in his playing career.
