- Earlier in the afternoon, Marumo Gallants defeated Chippa United 3-2 in a classic encounter in Gqeberha
Babina Noko saw most of the ball in the first half, with Tshediso Patjie looking lively for the home side, but Amaswaiswai's defence was solid and compact with the hosts limited to long-range shots.
Sekhukhune were awarded a free-kick on the left side of their attack and Patjie stepped up and unleashed a shot which was heading for the top left corner, but he was superbly denied by goalkeeper Thela Thela.
Swallows grew into the game gradually after the half-hour with Monnapule Saleng determined to create chances for his teammates. The Orlando Pirates loanee's curling cross found Mwape Musonda, who failed to keep his header on target.
The score was 0-0 during the halftime break following a first half which had few goalscoring opportunities.
Amaswaiswai started the second half brightly after a halftime team talk with their British coach Dylan Kerr and they broke the deadlock through Musonda, who poked the ball home to make it 1-0 to Swallows in the 50th minute.
Khetukuthula Ndlovu then had two great chances to double or extend the visitors' lead. However, the former Uthongathi FC winger was brilliantly denied by keeper Toaster Nsabata, before he failed to direct Saleng's into an empty net.
However, Patjie remained a constant threat to Amaswaiswai's defence and he was unlucky not to restore parity after he tried his luck from distance. The Baroka FC winger pulled the trigger from the edge of the visitors' box and his attempt hit the crossbar.
Both teams had chances in the closing stages of the match with Nsabata pulling off a fabulous save to deny Ruzaigh Gamildien.
