'Forgotten' Black Stars midfielder starts training with French Ligue 1 champions

Defending Ligue 1 champions Lille OSC have paved way for Ghanaian international, Kwadwo Asamoah, to train with their reserve side.

Asamoah has been clubless since leaving Serie A side Cagliari last year

The 33-year-old has spent 13 years in Italy, playing for Udinese, Juventus and Inter Milan

The ex-Inter Milan wing-back has not been with a club since leaving Serie A side Cagliari following the expiration of his contract in July last year.

But there are hopes for the 33-year-old could find a new team as soon as possible after he took part in training sessions with some of the Lille's young players.

There are reports emanating in France that Lille technical handlers are even interested in securing deal for Asamoah on a short term contract.

The unattached player joined Cagliari in February 2021 on a short-term deal after being offloaded by Italian champions Inter Milan, making 11 appearances in all competitions.

Asamoah played in the Italian top-flight league for 13 years, aiding Juventus to clinch the Serie A for six consecutive seasons.

The attacking midfielder has capped 74 times for the Black Stars of Ghana, netting fours goals in the process and was a member of the 2010 Ghana's World Cup squad.
