Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson was given the honour of unveiling his own statue at Aberdeen stadium Pittodrie in Scotland.
The two-time UEFA Champions League winner was joined by his former Aberdeen players as the club unveiled the bronze statue located outside the Richard Donald Stand.
The sculpture was based on a photograph taken of Sir Alex at Easter Road in 1980 after a 5-0 win over Hibernian clinched the Scottish title, the first time in 15 years a club outside of Celtic and Rangers had won the championship.
How Sir Alex Ferguson fared at Aberdeen
Ferguson worked for the Scottish club for eight years, before leaving for England to take the Manchester United job.
At Aberdeen, the Scottish-born gaffer won three league titles, the European Cup Winners’ Cup final and the European Super Cup.
Naturally, he is viewed as the best manager in Aberdeen's history too - which is why the statue was commissioned.
Sir Ale received a standing ovation from the fans who sold out a whole stand to welcome him back.
Obviously, Man United honoured their legendary boss with a statue at Old Trafford a decade ago.
Former Manchester United Supertar Shinji Kagawa’s Career Takes Strange Twist
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that midfielder Shinji Kagawa’s career has taken another unexpected twist as the Japan international now finds himself in Belgium.
Kagawa was recently unveiled as the new player of Sint-Truidense V.V. (STTV) in the Belgian Pro League after parting ways with Greek outfit PAOK.
The Japan international is perhaps best known for his short stint at Manchester United, and he was one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s last even signings before the legendary manager retired.
