The eye-catching tie of the round will see Spanish giants Barcelona take on Turkish heavyweights Galatasaray. Los Blaugranas last won the tournament in its Cup Winners Cup format back in 1997, while Galatasaray did so in the year 2000.

Chasing a spot to play in a home final, Sevilla was drawn against West Ham in the other potentially tasty tie. Sevilla is Europa League royalty, having won it a record six times, the last time in 2020.

Portugal's Braga will come up against Monaco in another tie. Neither team has won a European title in any format, but the Monegasque made the UEFA Champions League final in 2004.

Another Portuguese team in FC Porto was drawn against French opponents Olympique Lyonnais. Porto are storied winners of the Europa League and Champions League, while Lyon's only success was in the Intertoto Cup back in 1997, which is now the UEFA Conference League.

Spanish side Real Betis will gave to negotiate past Bundesliga team Eintracht Frankfurt. Betis has never won a European title, but the Germans can boast the Cup Winners Cup (1980) and the Intertoto Cup (1967).

Free-scoring Italian team Atalanta will look to pile on even more against German side Bayer Leverkusen.

Rounding off this stage of the competition will be RB Leipzig vs Spartak Moscow. Winning the tournament will see either team claim an inaugural European title.
