- This year's edition will witness Ghana's two most glamorous clubs battle for supremacy at the Accra Sports Stadium
- The one-off game has been scheduled for Sunday, March 4 in honour of the sitting president of the Republic of Ghana
English Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspurs could play in next season's President Cup, according to the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) chairman.
Kudjoe Fianoo, the chairman of GHALCA, revealed the plans of the welfare body after the announcement of this year's participants.
Ghana's sitting president, Nana Addo Dankwah-Akufo Addo is a known fan of Tottenham and it comes as no surprise the organizers of the match are looking at the north London side next season.
"There are plans to honour the president with the clubs he supports locally and internationally in the next edition of the President's Cup," Kudjoe Fianoo told Precise FM as quoted by Ghanaweb.
He explained the rationale behind inviting Tottenham to play in the President's Cup.
"We have involved clubs outside Ghana in the past and per what we are looking at, the president's tenure expires in 2024 and we are aware he supports Tottenham [Hotspurs] so after this year we are looking at engaging authorities in bringing Tottenham to play against the club the president supports in Ghana"
"This is the plan we have for the President Cup but we are involving Kotoko and Hearts this year because that plan [of inviting Tottenham to Ghana] has not been concluded." He ended.
