Benfica came from behind twice to force a 2-2 draw against Ajax in the round-of-16 first leg of the UEFA Champions League.
Dusan Tadic gave the Dutch side the lead with a superb first-time finish on the half-volley but that strike was undone when Sebastian Haller scored an unfortunate own goal to level scores.
The Ivorian striker will however make up for his initial mistake by restoring Ajax lead just four minutes later but a resilient Benfica side showed character to claw their way back into the game.
Roman Yaremchuk was the hero for the Portuguese side as he headed in a rebound to equalize 2-2 and bring the game to an exciting end.
With the draw, Benfica becomes the first team not to lose to Ajax in this season’s Champions League as the Dutch side has won all previous six matches before Wednesday’s encounter.
Haller sets an impressive record as social media reacts
Meanwhile, Sabastian Haller scored his 11th Champions League goal as Ajax played a 2-2 draw against Benfica game at the Estadio De Luz in Portugal.
The Ivorian striker with his goal against Benfica becomes the first player to score in each of his first seven Champions League games.
Fans have now taken to social media to hail the impact Haller has had in this season’s UCL games after such a brilliant goal-scoring run.
