Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope has finally achieved a clean sheet against Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham were beaten 1-0 by Pope’s Burnley, thanks to a 71st-minute header from Ben Mee, ESPN reported.

The Clarets hung on for a much-needed win in their relegation battle, and the win helped Pope avoid an unwanted statistic.

The England international shot-stopper managed the feat in his seventh game against the London side but was never really tested by Tottenham Hotspur.

Burnley had 15 shots, with only four on target. Tottenham on the other hand had 12 shots but only had two on target, as Nick Pope was a spectator for most of the game.

Coming off a 3-2 win against Manchester City, many expected Spurs to test Nick Pope a lot more than they did.

Tottenham’s failure to score in the game was also only the second time in history that they drew a blank against Burnley in all competitions.

The two teams have met 21 times before with Spurs winning 13 and Burnley winning four. There were four draws as well, StatArea confirmed.

Spurs last failed to score against Burnley in a 2015 clash. On that occasion, both teams drew 0-0.

Heartbreak for Antonio Conte as hard-fighting Burnley put up an impressive performance to beat Tottenham

Burnley keep their Premier League survival hopes alive on Wednesday night after they recorded a 1-0 win over Tottenham at the Turf Moor, Sky Sports reports. Ben Mee grabbed the only goal of the encounter to take the Clarets to 20 points, just two points from safety.

Victory would have taken Tottenham to fifth position on the standings, but they fluffed the chance and Antonio Conte's men will now need to return to the drawing board. It was Burnley that started the game on a desperate note as they forced two consecutive corners in the fourth minute requiring Hugo Lloris to punch away.

In the 20th minute, Kulusevski found Romero of all people in the Burnley box, but the Argentine's effort rolled harmlessly wide. And in the 33rd minute, Royal fired over for Tottenham after a counter-attack.
