Former Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu is reportedly prepared to sign a one-year deal with Hearts of Oak.
The 31-year-old is currently unattached after leaving Chinese club Quindao FC in January.
Badu played for Asante Kotoko before departing for Europe in 2009, but the box-to-box midfielder is prepared to sign for the Porcupine Warriors' fierce rivals, Hearts of Oak.
The combative midfielder was instrumental for the Ghana U-20 World Cup-winning squad, scoring the crucial penalty in the final against Brazil to help the Black Satellites to win the World Youth Championships in 2009.
Badu has had stints with Italian side Udinese, Hellas Verona, Spanish side Recreativo Huelva, Asante Kotoko and Berekum Arsenals.
Agyemang Badu early this year called time on his international career, 12 years after making his debut.
Badu to join list of Ghanaian stars who returned home
It will come as a huge surprise to see Emmanuel Agyemang Badu in the Phobian jersey after he declared his desire to return to Kotoko before retirement.
However, if the deal materialise, Badu will follow the footsteps of former Black Stars teammates Asamoah Gyan, Fatau Dauda and Sulley Muntari who recently returned to the Ghana Premier League.
Gyan and Dauda featured for Legon Cities whiles Muntari signed for Hearts of Oak.
