  • Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi continue dominating football discussions despite entering the twilight years of their careers
  • The duo is currently struggling to live up to their billing, with Lionel Messi yet to have an impact at PSG whom he joined from Barcelona
  • Be that as it may, Ronaldo has proved to be more effective at Manchester United compared to his old rival
  • The Portuguese star dominates Messi in nearly every department - including goal tally and goal ration

But with the two football greats in the sunset years of their careers, they have evidenced signs of rust this term, with each of them struggling to hit top form.

How Ronaldo and Messi compare this season

While Ronaldo's return to Man United has not quite worked according to plan, the Portuguese still boasts better stats than Messi who is enduring a torrid time at Paris Saint-Germain whom he joined in the summer.

According to stats compiled by The Sun, Ronaldo dominates Messi in nearly every department - with the Argentine's only better stat being passing accuracy.

Ronaldo has made 28 appearances for the Red Devils this term - managing 15 goals and three assists.

Nine of the 15 goals are in the Premier League, with the other six in different competitions including the Champions League.

On his part, Messi has played 22 times for the Parisians, notching seven goals in the process and setting up eight others.

Despite playing more minutes than Messi, Ronaldo still has a better goal ratio (153 minutes per goal) compared to Messi's 256 minutes.

Other departments that Ronaldo dominates Messi includes shots and touches in the opposition box.

Messi slammed for not tracking

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Lionel Messi was not at his best in PSG’s 1-0 win over Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League first leg.

New footage has emerged showing the moment Danilo Pereira yelled at the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner for not tracking back to defend.

The former Barcelona captain was even rated 3/10 by French outlet L’Equipe after he missed a penalty against Los Blancos.
