Al Ahly returned to action in the Egyptian Premier League in a big way, beating Misr Lel Makkasa 4-0.
It was Al Ahly’s first match in the Egyptian Premier League since December 2021 and they got off to a great start thanks to former Mamelodi Sundowns player, Luis Miquissone.
The midfielder scored twice to help the Egyptian side record a big win. Miquissone scored twice in the space of three minutes, to justify why Pitso Mosimane chose to start him. Hussein El Shahat and Zeyad Tarek rounded off the scoring.
Al Ahly’s Luis Miquissone is a former Mamelodi Sundowns player
Ironically, even though Miquissone was a Brazilian at one stage, he never actually played for the side. Miquissone signed for Sundowns in 2018, while Mosimane was in charge, but he never made a single appearance for the team. He was loaned out during his two-year spell at the team, Soccer Laduma reported.
After his time at the South African side came to an end, he joined Simba in Tanzania where his career really flourished. From there he moved to Al Ahly, signed by Pitso Mosiman, the same coach who didn’t give him a single game at Sundowns.
Luis Miquissone and Percy Tau could face former side Mamelodi Sundowns
Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns will meet in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League and Luis Miquissone and Percy Tau could both feature. The latter is currently returning back from injury.
Al Ahly are also strengthened by another return, as Mohamed El Shenawy is back in action, Sport24 reported. The Al Ahly shot-stopper was injured while representing Egypt in the African Cup of Nations.

In other CAF Champions League news, Al Ahly coach, Pitso Mosimane will be hoping that star midfielder, Percy Tau will be fit and back in action for his team’s clash against Mamelodi Sundowns, Sports Brief earlier reported.
Percy Tau has been out of action since January when he picked up a muscle injury. He has yet to return to training with the team but is eager to get back into action ahead of crucial games for the Egyptian side.
The South African midfielder missed out on playing time during Al Ahly’s trip to the United Arab Emirates where they competed in the FIFA Club World Cup, with Mosimane adding that the player was disappointed not to have shown the world what he can do, The Citizen reported.
