- Mourinho was sent off during the game which ended 2-2, and now he had been handed a further two-game touchline ban
The manager of Italian club AS Roma has been handed a two-match touchline ban after he was sent into the stands during his side’s 2-2 draw with Verona over the weekend.
BBC reports that the Portuguese tactician stormed the pitch during the game to argue with referee Luca Pairetto and later kicked the ball into the stands.
According to the Italian Football Federation, Mourinho made serious allegations against the match official as it also branded his action as a “threatening attitude”.
The former Chelsea boss was further handed a fine of 20,000 Euros (£16,670).
It was gathered that the ‘Special One’ made a telephone gesture towards the match referee which the Italian media linked to the match official’s father Pierluigi, who was involved in the Italian match-fixing scandal of 2006.
After the game ended, Mourinho also left the Stadio Olimpico without stopping for his post-match media duties.
The ban means he will not be in the dugout for Sunday's trip to Spezia and the home match against Atalanta on 5 March.
Roma had come from two goals down to earn a point in the game against Verona with substitutes Cristian Volpato and Edoardo Bove saving the blushes of the Portuguese team.
Mourinho reacts
The manager revealed he was going to have a nice dinner after getting sent off for Roma against Verona on Saturday, February 19.
Mourinho took to his Instagram account after the game to reveal his plans for the night despite not getting the sort of result he would have hoped for.
