Eriksen, 29, collapsed minutes before halftime at the Parken Stadium as players frantically called for medics to rush to his aid.

Emergency services acted swiftly and had to perform CPR in full glare of the cameras as they tried to resuscitate the talented midfielder.

Confirming suspension of the match, UEFA said in a statement: "The UEFA EURO 2020 match in Copenhagen has been suspended due to a medical emergency.”

How it happened

In the 43rd minute with the game finely poised at 0-0, Denmark got a throw in deep in the opponent's half.

What was supposed to be a routine throw-in ended up being a harrowing experience for players from both sides as Eriksen, who received the ball from the touchline, stumbled forward before collapsing a few yards from the touchline.

Referee Anthony Taylor reacted swiftly, calling on medics to rush to Eriksen's aid, who lay motionless on the pitch.

At that moment, there was deafening silence on the pitch, which only a few moments ago was characterised with overexcited fans.

First responders spent not less than 15 minutes trying to resuscitate Eriksen as teammates shielded him from the glare of cameras.

The Danish FA has since released a statement confirming Eriksen had been stabilised and would undergo further tests.

"We are with you, Eriksen"

From Marcus Rashford to Eriksen’s former teammate Victor Wanyama, various personalities in football shared similar concerns for Eriksen.
