The popularity of football is down to the sport's flexibility of participation giving it a global appeal. Thus, it comes as no surprise as a video of nuns playing football has surfaced.
An awe-inspiring footage of nuns in their habit (the official outfit of nuns) playing football has emerged on the internet as they take time off their religious practice.
The nuns, numbering four, were seen enjoying their free time by playing soccer on a small football pitch in Italy.
The video which was initially posted on picture sharing app, Instagram, by IG Italia has garnered a lot of interest on social media.

FootballThe video which has since gone viral was captioned in Italian but translated into English.
“Football in Italy is not only the most popular sport but also the most practised one but not everyone knows that last year the first national football team in the world was born. In reality, in the ecclesiastical sphere there is already a European league made up of national teams whose players are priests, but only now has it been possible to create a female team," as quoted by indiatoday.
"The idea comes from a project by Moreno Buccianti, former footballer and former founder of the Italian men's team of priests. The creation of a team that was all female had been sketched several years ago but has only now materialized on the thrust of the success that the Italian women's national football team is riding and thanks to the intervention of the Pope who gave his approval to support of the cause."
