FootballBayern Munich Legend Reveals Why Mohamed Salah Failed To Make FIFPro XI
- Thomas Muller has disclosed the reason behind Mohamed Salah's snub in the recently announced FIFA FIFPro XI
- The Egypt and Liverpool star failed to make the best XI in the world despite his sizzling form for club and country
- Cristiano Ronaldo controversially made the FIFA FIFPro XI ahead of the Egyptian superstar despite his exploits last season
Germany and Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller says Mohamed Salah's shocking omission from the FIFA FIFPro XI is because of the Euros held last summer.
Salah had a great season with Liverpool, scoring 22 league goals but was beaten to the best XI team by Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to The Mirror, Muller believes the absence of an international competition for the Egyptian affected his chances.
“It’s always difficult to choose fairly these teams because everyone has slightly different views,” Muller told MBC Masr TV, via Filgoal.
"Mohamed Salah is in great form at the moment and is appreciated by everyone.
"It's disappointing that he was not chosen in the World XI, and this may be due to the Euros being played last summer."
Muller's Bayern Munich teammate Robert Lewandowski, Lionel Messi of PSG and Erling Haaland all made the team.
However the 2014 World Cup winner believes there should have been a place in the team for Mohamed Salah.
"The Euros are of great importance and of course you will find players from Italy [the champions] in the formation," he continued.
“It’s a combination of individual and collective success. Usually 20 players can be selected and only four or five of them are worthy. But Salah deserved to be in the formation."
