However, the 57-year-old stated that he would be shocked if he did not renew.
He said on the On The Whistle Podcast:
“I believe we will renew, if we don’t renew I’ll be surprised. I’ll repeat to the next guy [who comes along], I don’t know what you’ll have to win.”
This comes after he won back-to-back CAF Champions Leagues, CAF Super Cups and bronze medals at the World Club Cup as well as an Egyptian Premier League title, all in the space of 18 months.
Mosimane was quoted by The South African as saying:
"My dream is to stay for several years with Al Ahly and to be a legend, like Manuel José, who won four CAF Champions League titles during seven years,” Mosimane said in his pre-match press conference, as per the club’s website.
“I hope to stay here for seven years. This is a hard thing to do, because Al Ahly is a great club and I always do my best to meet Al Ahly’s high expectations.”
Mosimane went on to talk about two key Al Ahly players, Mohamed Abdelmoniem and Alou Dieng, with the later being approached and congratulated by N’Golo Kante at the World Club Cup awards ceremonies, with both players hailing from Mali.
Mosimane was full of praise for 23-year-old Abdelmoniem who recalled from his loan spell at Future FC to Al Ahly after an excellent Africa Cup of Nations campaign, which saw him gain admiration globally.
He believed that Abdelmoniem will be touted by big clubs in Europe, adding:

Al-Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane believes he will never get the opportunity to coach a team in Europe.
As reported on Sports Brief, the three-time CAF Champions League winner is known for his forthrightness, and did not pull any punches about perceived prejudices against African coaches overseas.
He was speaking at a press conference of the South African Football Journalist Association, where he was frank about his prospects of one day coaching in Europe.
