Mamelodi Sundowns will be without a few star players ahead of their Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League clash against AL Ahly.
The Brazilians have suffered a few injuries during recent games, as they embark on a busy period in local and continental competitions.
Mamelodi Sundowns’ new signing, Erwin Saavedra was stretchered off during Masandawana’s clash against Al Merrikh just after the 35th minute, The South African confirmed. Rushine De Reuck was then also stretchered off during the same game. The Sundowns medical team is awaiting medical evaluations on both players to see the extent of the injuries. The duo joins Gaston Sirino, Gift Motupa and Pavol Safranko on the bench.

FootballSirino was injured in Sundowns’ previous CAF Champions League clash against Al-Hilal, where he suffered a nasal fracture during a nasty collision. Motupa was injured before the DStv Premiership game against Baroka while Safranko was injured during the Baroka game.
Teboho Mokoena believes that the team has enough squad depth to deal with the injuries though, The Citizen reported. Mamelodi Sundowns were originally criticized for signing so many players, but that could now be a blessing as they have more players available.
There is a concern upfront as Sirino, Safranko and Saavedra played similar roles, but co-coach Rhulani Mokwena, believes that Peter Shalulile can lead the goalscoring line for the Brazilians, Goal.Com reported.
