Norwich City flew out of the blocks and won a corner within the first minute. By the fourth minute they already had the ball in the ball but Milot Rashica’s attempt was disallowed for an offside call.

A minute later, Liverpool should have taken the lead when Kostas Tsimikas blazed over the bar. The defender was picked out by Mohamed Salah in the box and couldn’t control the half volley.

Ten minutes later, Virgil van Dijk had his header pushed away by Angus Gunn as Liverpool pushed forward. Teemu Pukki then should have scored two minutes later when he found himself with acres of space but dragged his shot wide.

The rest of the first half was end-to-end stuff but neither team could find a goal.

That changed in the first few minutes of the second half when Norwich City took the lead. Rashica fired a shot on goal which took a horrible deflection of Joel Matip. The ball looped up and away from Alisson, who was going the other way, into the back of the net.

The Canaries didn’t have long to celebrate as Liverpool pushed forward in search of an equalizer but it looked like it would be one of those days where nothing went their way.

Their persistence paid off though when Tsimikas found Sadio Mané free in the box. The ball was slightly behind him but the Senegalese star produced an acrobatic overhead kick to find the back of the net.

Uplifted by that goal and with the Anfield crowd firmly behind them, Liverpool went in search of a second. That came when Alisson lofted a ball downfield to Salah who smartly twisted and turned and wrong-footed a rushing Angus Gunn to roll the ball into the net. The goal was Salah's 150th with Liverpool.

Liverpool rounded off their scoring as their new signing, Luis Diaz, got in on the act. The front three scored within 17 minutes.

Diaz started the game with Diogo Jota and Bobby Firmino both nursing injuries and made the most of his chance. Jordan Henderson played a through ball into Diaz’s path and he smartly chipped Gunn who rushed out again to find the back of the net.

Liverpool ran out 3-1 winners and are now six points behind Manchester City.

Roberto Firmino, Salah score as Liverpool destroy Inter Milan at San Siro in UCL knockout

Liverpool, who are Premier League giants, have got one leg in the quarterfinal of the UEFA Champions League when they beat Inter Milan 2-0 at the San Siro on Wednesday night, 16 February.

Inter Milan would have themselves to blame for losing this Champions League round of 16 first leg encounter against Liverpool, as they had many chances in the first half, Sports Brief earlier reported.

The hosts started the match impressively with Edin Dzeko and Ivan Perisic tormenting Liverpool's defence with a flurry of attacks, but the Italian team were unable to get the breakthrough.
