Pep Guardiola had wanted Harry Kane to join up with his squad as a replacement for Sergio Aguero who had earlier joined Barcelona but the deal couldn’t see the light of day.

According to a report via Manchester Evening News, Guardiola admitted he wasn’t fully confident when Harry Kane’s transfer was rejected but is happy with where they presently are on the table.

"And when it happens two, three, four times, it’s over. After we saw the squad and the way we played and I said we were not sure what we had to do or where we had to go.
"Now you can say ‘Harry Kane didn’t come and everything is going well’ but at the time I didn’t know it.

Manchester City look on course to win a third successive Premier League title as the Citizens presently top the league table with 9 points after 25 games played.
