Messi now faces the rage of the staff of MiM Sotogrande, a luxury hotel based in Cadiz in the southwest of Spain after he reportedly sacked all the current workers after taking over the resort.

According to reports, about 40 members of staff are unemployed at the moment, making people in the town angry with Messi's decision.

The hotel has been operating for over ten years and it has been the mainstay of the town, providing security, comforts and entertainment to guests as well as employment to people of the community.

Messi will now face the wrath of EU labour law, as his drastic actions go against the rights and obligations of workers and employers.

The Argentine captain is the majority shareholder of MiM hotels, a company that owns numerous hotels in Barcelona, Mallorca and Ibiza.

It was Kylian Mbappe who got the winner with a brilliant goal in stoppage time to give his side an advantage over the 13-time Champions League winners.

The hosts were thoroughly dominant, particularly in possession, but somehow failed to break down the Spanish giants for large parts of the game.
