Kenyan international Ayub Timbe was on target for his new club Buriram United as the Thailand side thrashed their opponents Nong Bua Pitchaya in the FA Cup.
The former Vissel Kobe winger was given the nod to start for his side in the FA Cup, and did not disappoint as Buriram United cruised to a comfortable 4-1 victory.
His counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo Jonathan Bolingi was also on the scoresheet on Wednesday, February 16.
Timbe has been in impressive form for his new side since joining the club in December 2021, and prior to the FA Cup tie, he already had two goals to his name for the club.
How the game went
The clash took place at the Chang Arena and Timbe’s side needed only five minutes to find the opening goal.
Nong Bua Pitchaya conceded a penalty which was calmly slotted home by Bolingi, who set his side up for victory.
Thirty minutes later and Buriram doubled their lead, with Timbe heavily involved in the goal.
From a corner, the Harambee Stars winger played it to Ratthanakorn who expertly finished from a couple of yards out.
Buriram put the game truly beyond their opponents 12 minutes after the restart when Bollingi capitalized on defensive lapses to punish the visitors, who got their consolation goal through Reis Tardeli in the 66th minute.
But hopes of a comeback were completely put to bed when Timbe gave his side a 4-1 lead after controlling the ball before unleashing a rocket past the goalkeeper.
