Pitso Mosimane has provoked a mixed bag of reactions to his comments about giving up on his hopes of coaching in Europe.
The highly successful Al-Ahly coach also had the English Premier League in his crosshairs, criticising its clubs for not giving black coaches enough opportunities. He was speaking at a press conference hosted by the South African Football Journalists Association.
Talking to SowetanLIVE, Mosimane said:
“Those are fairytale stories, my brother. That would never happen. Dwight Yorke said to me, 'Forget about Europe, you're never going to go to Europe.' "
He then told The Citizen:
“You want to tell me that out of all the black coaches in England, no one can coach? It is unbelievable. Abedi Pele, Tony Yeboah, Dwight Yorke, John Barnes, where are they? You are telling me none of them can coach?"

Meanwhile, Al-Ahly legend Ahmed Shobeir says that the Egyptian giants are eager to hold onto the services of Mosimane.
As reported on Sports Brief, Shobeir, 61, who spent 17 glorious years at the Red Devils, says he has been made aware of a bumper new deal tabled for Mosimane to remain in Cairo.
The new contract will reportedly see Mosimane earn up to $165,000 (R2 491 919) a month, with the length of the deal still unknown.
