FootballTrouble for West Ham as Superstars Plan to Demand Pay Rise After Learning of Kurt Zouma's Wages
- West Ham players are reportedly upset after learning of Kurt Zouma’s massive wages at the club
- Zouma signed for West ham from Chelsea in the summer in a four-year contract in a £29.8million move
- The Frenchman was recently fined by the club after a viral video of him harming his cat emerged social media, and the fine brought to light his wages at the club
- Several West Ham superstars are now reportedly gearing to question their current deals at the club
Another problem has presented itself in the West Ham camp as the club’s bosses are now preparing to deal with outrage from players amid the Kurt Zouma drama.
Zouma has been at the centre of worldwide criticism after a video of the West Ham star hurting his cats emerged on Tuesday, February 8.
A string of events has followed since, with his cats being taken away by the RSPCA.
West Ham also imposed a punishment of their own on Zouma, with the club punishing the 27-year-old with a hefty £250,000.
The fine brought to light Zouma’s wages at West Ham, which currently stands at £125,000-per-week, making him the club’s highest earner.
Now Daily Mail reports that a number of West ham players are unhappy about Zouma’s wages at the club, and are ready to push for a pay rise as a result.
Zouma signed a four-year contract with the Hammers after sealing a £29.8million move from Chelsea in the summer, but his teammates were unaware of his earnings.
With widespread reports of Zouma’s fine, his wages have since hit the public eye, and a simple math would indicate that the fine imposed was worth two weeks of the player’s wages.
West Ham stars Michail Antonio and Andriy Yarmolenko are some of the known high earners of the club, with wages reaching up to £100,000-per-week inclusive of bonuses.

FootballThe Mirror however reports that other superstars including Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek, Pablo Fornals and Vladimir Coufal earn significantly less at the West London club.
With this new revelation, West Ham bosses now face a battle to settle the squad, as increasing disgruntled players wages at this time might prove challenging for a number of reasons.
For one thing, the club has a number of sponsorships in limbo, with some big brands withholding their partnership after the Zouma video went viral.
On a personal level, Zouma has lost an Adidas deal, while West Ham has seen Experience Kissimee and Vitality suspend their relationship with the club.
Zouma’s brother suspended by club
Meanwhile, Sports Brief earlier reported of how Zouma’s brother Yoan was suspended by his club Dagenham & Redbridge for his role in the viral video.
Yoan is believed to have been the one behind the camera, and he has since apologized ‘unreservedly’.
However, Dagenham and Redbridge released a statement on Thursday, confirming that Yoan was suspended until investigations by the RSPCA were completed.
