Super Eagles players were conspicuously missing as the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) released the best eleven players from the just concluded AFCON in Cameroon.

The competition which came to a thrilling end on Sunday February 6 was won by Senegal after the West African nation defeated Egypt in the final via penalties.

CAF on Monday February 7, released the list of the top eleven players from the tournament with Senegal having four of its players in the team.

Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, left-back Saliou Ciss, midfielder Nampalys Mendy, and Sadio Mane all feature in the best XI players, as named by CAF Marca reports.

Complete Sports also reports, Egypt, who were losing finalists had three players make the cut for the North Africans while top scorer, Vincent Aboubakar was the only Cameroonian to make the list.

Edmond Tapsoba and Ibrahim Blati Toure from Burkina Faso alongside Achraf Hakimi of Morocco completes the line-up of Africa’s best eleven players at the AFCON.

Amuneke joins Super Eagles Technical Crew

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Amuneke has been announced by the Nigeria Football Federation as part of the technical crew of the Super Eagles.

According to the Vanguard, the former Nigeria international joins Augustine Eguavoen has the chief coach of the team as they fine-tune preparations for March’s World Cup playoffs against Ghana.

Amuneke was an integral member of the Super Eagles during his playing career and scored both goals that won Nigeria the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations final match against Zambia in Tunis.
