Ralf Rangnick has boldly stated that majority of stakeholders at Manchester United would be happy if the club ended up finishing in fourth position.

The Red Devils are having another extremely average season, despite the sensational acquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer.

They were recently bundled out of the FA Cup, losing to Middlesbrough via penalties in Friday, February 4.

United will now turn their attention back to the league, where they face a relegation-threatened Burnley on Tuesday.

Speaking during a press conference, Rangnick spoke of Man United’s season so far where he admitted the club would be content with a top four finish.

“We are fourth in the league and everybody inside of the club, including myself, would be happy if we finish fourth at the end of the season,” said the gaffer as quoted by The Sun.

“We are still in the Champions League, unfortunately no longer involved in the FA Cup.

“The full focus with my coaching staff is getting the best out of this season. It is the only thing we can do and we can achieve that.

United’s top-four chances

Since taking over as United boss, Rangnick has seen his side sneak back to the top four, after six wins and two draws from their last nine games.

In terms of their title credentials, however, United are still looking a fair distance away from matching the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.

“If United has not won a title in ten years, there must be some good reasons for that.  But the end of the season is the time to discuss those reasons,” Rangnick added.
