President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick , has declared Portuguese coach, Jose Poseiro is free to sign with another team as contracts have not been signed officially according to The Nation.
Poseiro was named Super Eagles coach by the Football Federation to replace former manager Gernot Rohr who was sacked after five years in charge of the national team.
In a report via Complete Sports, Pinnick revealed that talks on appointing the former Venezuela coach stalled due to disagreement on certain issues in his contract with the NFF.
The NFF President also stated that Poseiro might have to wait until after Nigeria’s World Cup playoffs against Ghana in March before getting his permanent appointment.
“I am still talking to him (Peseiro), maybe he has to wait till after the World Cup qualifiers.
“If in the course of his waiting, he got another job, we wish him well. The good news is that we did not sign the contract officially”.
Technical Director of the NFF, Augustine Eguavoen served as the Super Eagles interim coach following the exit of the former handler Gernot Rohr and led the team to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Before Eguavoen's appointment, NFF had announced Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro as the head coach to take over the team after the AFCON.
