Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote has said he will not visit Qatar to watch the World Cup in November if the Super Eagles of Nigeria fail to qualify for the tournament, Ghanaweb quoting Sunnewsonline reports.
Dangote made this disclosure while speaking to newsmen during his tour of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium pitch, venue of the return leg World Cup qualifier playoff between Nigeria and Ghana.
While Nigeria are vying to make their fourth consecutive World Cup appearance in Qatar, Ghana will be looking to return to the competition after missing out four years ago.
The rivalry between both nations has been the major talking point as football lovers continue to build-up to the game.
Also anticipating the clash is Nigerian billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote.
Asked how important it is for him for the Super Eagles to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar, Dangote told reporters: “It is not only important to me, it is important to all of us here, that is what will make us proud as Nigerians.
“If Nigeria does not qualify I won’t go there.”
However, Dangote's comment has triggered reactions from Ghanaians on Twitter.

Ghanaian Ansah David Kwam said, “He's just joking my people, what is heartbreak for someone who supports Arsenal?”
Another Ghanaian Cool Jam said, “Sir, no worries. You will watch the world cup. Our black stars are not ready.”

The playoff round matches will take place next month to determine Africa’s five representatives that will play at the World Cup, with the winners across two legs booking their place in Qatar 2022.
John Painstil Wants Kwesi Appiah to Lead Black Stars in World Cup Qualifier Against Nigeria
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that a member of Ghana's 2010 World Cup team, John Painstil, has suggested that the Ghana Football Association appoints Kwesi Appiah as coach of the Black Stars for the game against Nigeria.
The Black Stars are without a coach ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifier against the Super Eagles in March.
And John Painstil feels the clock is ticking as the GFA continues its search for a new coach, while Kwesi Appiah is available for the role.
