The two teams will come up against each other for the ultimate prize at Olembe's Paul Biya Stadium.

Senegal, who have lost in two finals in recent years will be looking to end that voodoo to finally clinch their first-ever continental title.

Egypt, on the other hand, will be out to secure a record-extending eighth title in what promises to be a cracker that will pit two of Liverpool's finest in Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah against each other.

Road to the final

Arriving Cameroon as one of the tournament favourites, Senegal had a smooth qualification for the last 16 as they finished top of Group B with five points.

The Lions of Teranga overcame Cape Verde in the first knockout to set up a date with Equatorial Guinea who they demolished 3-1 to reach the quarters.

The win earned them a meeting with Burkina Faso in the last four where they secured another 3-1 convincing win to storm the final.

On their part, Egypt had a shaky start to the competition as they lost their group opener against Nigeria before they got their campaign back on track with a 1-0 hard-earned win over Guinea-Bissau.

They eventually finished as Group D runners-up with a 1-0 win over Sudan before eliminating tournament favourites Ivory Coast via post-match penalties in the round of 16.

They went on to get past regional rivals Morocco in the quarters before stunning hosts Cameroon in the semis to set up a date with Senegal in the final.

Team-news

Aliou Cisse has no major absentees for the final and he is expected to name a largely unchanged side for the clash against Egypt, with Sadio Mane leading the attack.

As for Egypt, they remain without the services of midfielder Akram Tawfik who picked an injury against Nigeria.

Ahmed Hegazi is also a major doubt for the Pharaohs having missed their semifinal meeting against Cameroon.

Mo Salah is expected to be the centre of focus for Egypt, with the Liverpool ace carrying his nation's hope in the tourney.
