Frank Lampard got a dream start to his first game in charge of the Everton team.
The Merseyside team beat fellow Premier League side Brentford 4-1, in a game that Sports Brief monitored.
Lampard took over the Everton side after Rapha Benitez was let go due to poor performances. Lampard, who previously coached Chelsea, was hoping to bring better fortunes and he couldn’t have asked for a better start.
After a cagey start to the encounter, Everton got the first goal thanks to a header from Yerry Mina. The Colombian, who recently returned from injury, found himself in the right place at the right time in the box to easily head in from a corner in the 31st minute.
Everton headed into the halftime break with the lead but soon doubled it when the action got underway again.
Richarlison finished brilliantly in the 48th minute after a through ball from Allan. Brentford keeper David Raya came rushing out but Richarlison chipped him to score.
Two minutes later, Brentford almost pulled one back after Ivan Toney put a ball into the box but no one could get on the end of it.
Brentford did pull one back in the 54th minute when Ivan Toney was brought down in the box by Pickford. The player dusted himself off and converted the penalty to give the visitors some hope.
Eight minutes later though, Everton killed off that hope when Mason Holgate scored their third.
The goal came from another corner and gave The Toffees their two-goal lead back. Brentford tried in vain to get something out of the game but Everton killed it off in the 91st minute thanks to Andros Townsend.
