Pitso Mosimane is considered to be Africa’s best coach and his credentials speak for themselves.

Pitso’s signature has been sought after by clubs and countries alike, and he is highly respected among peers and fans, but it’s his recent comments that have caused division.

Praising the work done by Aliou Cissé with Senegal, Mosimane took to Twitter to comment that Africa needed to hire Africans as coaches. Cissé is a former Senegal player who has now led his country to the final of AFCON as a coach. Sadio Mané has even said that they want to win the tournament for their coach, IOL reported.

Using Cissé as an example of why hiring local coaches works, Mosimane added that coaches from other continents must be able to show the trophies they had won in their career before they were hired.

His comments haven’t gone well with everyone though, as some fans have accused Pitso of being somewhat of a hypocrite. While some agree with his ‘local is lekker’ approach, others reminded Pitso that he was a foreign coach by working in Egypt.

Pitso Mosimane tests positive for Covid19, could miss Al Ahly's opening game at the FIFA Club World Cup

In other footballing news, Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane could be set to miss his team’s opening game at the FIFA Club World Cup against Monterrey after he tested positive for Covid19, Sports Brief earlier reported.

The Confederation of African Football champions Al Ahly will take on North American champions Monterrey from Mexico in their opening game of the tournament on Saturday in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In a statement released by Al Ahly, they confirmed that their coach had tested positive and was self-isolating, Goal.Com reported. The club’s doctor, Ahmed Abu Abla, described his condition as stable.
