Plateau United FC achievements

After losing in the 1993 and 1998 finals, the club won the Nigeria Cup in 1999, being their first-ever silverware. The game ended in a 1-0 final victory over Iwuanyanwu Nationale, with the only goal scored by Donatus Iloka. They later appeared in a continental game for the first time in 2000 but got eliminated after their first tie.

The Tin City Boys got promoted in the 2010–11 season to the Nigeria premier league but were later relegated back the next year. Led by coach Kennedy Boboye, the team rose back in 2015 and won the Nigerian Professional Football League for the first time in 2017.
