Sports Brief earlier reported how Egypt's coach Carlos Queiroz slammed Cameroon Football Association president Samuel Eto’o for branding the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations clash between Egypt and Cameroon as “war”, demanding CAF to take action.

Soccer Laduma now reports that The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) launched an official protest against CAF's decision to appoint a certain referee for their semi-final clash against Cameroon on Thursday. Gambian referee Bakary Gassama will take charge of the headline clash.

EFA member Ehab El-Komy revealed that the organisation sent a letter to the continental governing body to reconsider Gassama's appointment.

El-Komy told KingFut:

"Not only have we protested against Gassama's selection, but we also sent CAF a CD showing major refereeing mistakes in our game against Morocco. There were more than 12 refereeing mistakes in the Morocco game, and Gassama has been a part of multiple unfortunate events involving both the Egyptian national team and Egyptian clubs.
"Victor Gomes or the Guatemalan referee who was mentioned earlier were more worthy of officiating this game. As the EFA, things of that sort worry us, especially after Eto'o earlier said that it's a war and with the leaks claiming that Salah tested positive for COVID-19."

Egypt coach Carlos Queiroz tells CAF to take action against Eto’o ahead of semifinal clash vs Cameroon

Coach Carlos Queiroz has slammed Samuel Eto’o for branding the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations clash between Egypt and Cameroon as “war” and wants CAF to take action.

Hosts Cameroon will face off with the Pharaohs on Thursday night and the winner of that clash will take on Senegal who are through to the final of the tournament, following a 3-1 win over Burkina Faso.

Eto’o who was recently voted as FECAFOOT president compared the last-four clash with Egypt to "war".
